I returned from rural Wiltshire to my home town, Dorchester, five years ago. It took a while to absorb the many changes that have occurred during the last thirty years. Although I identify with England, I see myself as belonging to Dorset. I'm fascinated by human interactions that occur between rurality and urbanism and interested in developing a stronger sense of 'roots'.

 

In addition to employing photography, my work is informed by drawing, spoken words, reading nature conservation articles and the powers of observation during travel. While exploring an indigenous style of work, I draw upon art forms which capture the synthesis of tribal and modern culture. Influences include anthropology, archaeology and primitive art.
